Towards Peace brought together the practices of Dr. Sasi Victoire and Elizabeth Hunter in a collaborative exhibition shaped by cultural exchange, sustainability and human connection in Vietnam. Developed during Victoire’s residency in Đà Nẵng, the project engaged local artists, artisans and architecture students from Hội An and Đà Nẵng in a dialogue between contemporary art and the cultural landscape of Central Vietnam.

Dr. Sasi Victoire is an interdisciplinary artist, educator and cultural ambassador whose practice spans visual arts, theatre and literature. Holding a PhD in Visual Arts from James Cook University, alongside advanced degrees in Creative Arts and Education, Victoire has built an internationally recognised practice grounded in cultural research, community engagement and social advocacy. Her work has been presented across Australia and Asia, including exhibitions and collaborations in Malaysia, Thailand and India. Deeply committed to cultural exchange and human rights through art, she was awarded the 2015 Global Award for Human Rights through Art by AMMA Malaysia. Throughout her career, Victoire has worked closely with communities, Indigenous artists and educational institutions, fostering dialogue through interdisciplinary and socially engaged artistic practice.

Elizabeth Hunter, an Australian master printmaker based in Cairns, contributed a psychologically nuanced body of work examining empathy, vulnerability and the contradictions of human nature. Influenced by years of travel and international study, Hunter’s practice combined technical precision with emotional depth, exploring the coexistence of love and brutality, compassion and human fragility.

Together, the exhibition reflected on coexistence, compassion and the transformative potential of art as a bridge between cultures.
